What Instagram formats does Shop The Look support?

Shop The Look supports the following Instagram formats:

Currently, you can customize trigger words for all Looks on the Collective Voice mobile app only. 

Static Image Post

Want to share shoppable products shown in a static Instagram Image Post? Enable Shop The Look for your Collective Voice Look before uploading that exact image to your Instagram feed. 

  1. Create your Look on Collective Voice. This should be a shoppable photo. 
  2. Set up the trigger word you want your audience to comment to receive this Look in their DMs. You've now enabled Shop The Look for this Look! 
  3. Upload the exact same image to Instagram. Inform your audience to comment the trigger word to receive the automated DM to your Look. 
    • Think: Comment "WORK" to receive my Home Office Look! 

Instagram Reel

Want to share shoppable products featured in an Instagram Reel? Enable Shop The Look to automatically send the content from your Reel with your community. You’ll still need to have an image to upload as a Collective Voice Look, which will be tied to your Reel. 

Please note: Only ONE Shop The Look-enabled Look can be tied to a Reel.

  1. First, think about the Reel you plan to upload to Instagram.
  2. Create a Look on Collective Voice, including products that will be relevant to what you speak to or showcase in your Reel.  Please remember the exact image you use in your Look.
  3. Set up the trigger words you'd want your audience to comment to receive this Look in their DMs. You've now enabled Shop The Look for this Look! 
  4. Upload your Reel to Instagram. When choosing a custom cover image for the Reel, add the exact image you used for your Look and inform your audience to comment the trigger word to receive the automated DM to your Look.
    • Think: Comment "GLOW" to receive my makeup routine! 

Instagram Carousel

Want to showcase multiple Looks in one Instagram carousel? Simply enable Shop The Look for all the Looks you want to post, and upload the exact images from those Looks as an Instagram Carousel for followers to swipe through.

  1. First, create your Looks on Collective Voice and enable Shop The Look for each Look. 
  2. Think about the images you want to feature in your Instagram Carousel. Upload the exact images used for each Look. You can upload up to 10 Looks in a Carousel.
    • Your Carousel can still include as many images/videos as you'd like (up to 20), but our system will only detect up to 10 Looks. 
  3. Inform your audience to comment any of the trigger words you've set up for any of the Looks. They will then receive an automated DM carousel to swipe through through the Looks from your Carousel to easily shop!

Instagram Live

Want to broadcast on Instagram Live? If you’re planning a Live, you can simultaneously capture your audiences’ attention in a real time broadcast, while Shop The Look automatically sends DMs of your pre-planned shoppable content to your viewers. Your tuned-in viewers will just need to comment the unique trigger word you’ve assigned to the Look in order to receive the DMs.

  1. Create your Look on Collective Voice. 
  2. Set up a unique* trigger word that you’d like to assign to the shoppable content in your Look. THINK: “Smokey” or “HAUL”
    • *Please note: For automated DMs to be successfully sent through Instagram Lives, the trigger word that is associated with this Look must be unique and cannot be activated/used in other active Looks. If you have "SMOKEY" set up for the IG Live Look, you must not have "SMOKEY" as a trigger word for any other Look.
  3. Start your Instagram Live broadcast and tell your viewers to comment the trigger word if they want to receive a DM of your products featured in your Live.
